Get Help via Chat

Chat With a Librarian!

Need live help?  Then use our chat box located to the right side of every LibGuide!  Benton Library uses a service called Meebo to provide instant chat assistance to our students.  You do not need to join Meebo to use this chat box!  Simply type your question in the box and a librarian will respond.

When the box has a green word bubble, a librarian should be available for instant chat feedback.  When the box has a red word bubble, librarians are not available.  However, if you type a question or comment, it will save the message for the librarian for when we log back into Meebo.

This is why it's important that you use your real name or leave your contact information!  You'll notice at the bottom of the chat box you're instantly assigned a nicname (usually meeboguest followed by numbers).  You can click on "edit nickname" to change this to your real name or include your real name in your message.

Get Help via Text

Text a Librarian!

Need instant help?  Wondering if a book is in?  Want a book placed on hold?  Then send a text message to your library!

The library has recently signed up for Google Voice, which is a free service that allows users to send and receive text messages over the web!  It also buzzes the cell phones of users, so we instantly know when you ask a question!  If you need help and you need it quick, send your text to the number listed above and we'll answer right away!

In the near future, we're hoping to send text notifications to students when their books on hold come in or their books are overdue!  Stay tuned for that news!

Get Help in Person

Ask a Librarian in Person!

Feel free to visit the library any time during our regular hours to visit with a librarian face-to-face!  We're here to help you find books, help you with research, and answer any questions you might have!

Be sure that when you visit the library from your class, you have a library pass signed by your teacher.  You also need to sign in and out when you visit the library.  We also have a timestamp machine to stamp your passes so your teachers know when you left the library.

As well, we are open before and after school hours.  Mornings are an especially busy time at the library, but also a great time to freely use computers or check out books!

Be sure to visit our library any time you have a question or use one of the methods listed above during after school hours!  We'll do our best to get back to you ASAP!
